Goals of Middle Rio Grande Basin Water Resources Initiative

To create a state-of-the-art information collection, analysis, and graphic delivery system useful to decision makers that describes, predicts, and depicts the availability and distribution of water in the Middle Rio Grande Basin.

Criteria for the Evaluation and Ranking of Water Resources Management Issues

  • Magnitude of the impact of this issue
  • Likelihood of the impact of this issue
  • Time frame for the impact of the issue
  • Robustness (site independence) of this issue

Criteria for the Evaluation of System Information in Resolving Issues

  • The system delivers timely information of sufficient quality to materially increase the probability of making a correct decision (Risk Reduction).
  • The value of the information gained is commensurate with the cost of obtaining the information (Cost Effectiveness).
  • Where the issue exists for other regions, this information system could apply (Information Robustness).
